What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections, often called Botox®, are used to relax muscles of the face, helping to reduce or completely remove wrinkles that occur due to facial expressions.

The most commonly treated areas are forehead lines, crow's feet and frown lines and because the injections reduce or completely stop movement in the treated area, they also prevent new wrinkles forming over time.

How the treatment works:

During your anti-wrinkle treatment tiny amounts of botulinum toxin are injected into the muscles causing the unwanted wrinkles. The injections are made just beneath the skin and there is no downtime needed for recovery afterwards.

Does it hurt?

Anti-ageing injectables can cause some mild discomfort, but the level of pain varies depending on the individual and the area treated. The needle used is very fine and therefore this minimises discomfort. The injections may pinch slightly or cause a stinging sensation at the time of injection, but it’s typically brief and tolerable.

How quickly do you see results?

The initial effects of Botox® will show in the first 2-5 days. Peak effect on the muscle is at 14 days, but the result will continue to improve for 4 weeks or more. The benefits start to wear off after 3-4 months on average and therefore followup sessions are required every 3-4 months to maintain results.
